The Center of Excellence for Global Trade and Supply Chain Management is always looking for ways to collaborate with organizations who share the same goal of increasing awareness for careers in Supply Chain Management, and iUrban Teen is one such organization. Together, The Center and iUrban Teen partnered on an event that helped provide exceptional educational programming to underserved middle and high school students of color by holding an iBuild Summit focused on supply chain manufacturing.

This student focused event took place in person at the beginning of August. At the iBuild summit, the student participants learned about the expanding future of supply chain and how they can be part of this important career path that impacts all aspects of our world. Supply Chain industry professionals, college faculty, and college students from Highline and Western Washington University teamed up to help provide hands-on workshops, simulation experiences, and other activities.

The Center’s Board Chair, Tom Green, stepped in to give a tour of the SeaTac Airport air cargo facilities. When students have the opportunity to see and understand various supply chain roles, it helps them visualize themselves in those jobs and as part of a supply chain organization. This event also gave students and their parents the opportunity to network with industry professionals, educators, and college students about their career and education plans for the future. This is the second time the center has partnered with iUrban teen on such a workshop, with the first occurring back in 2019.
