7/23/2020 – Securing the Supply Chain – Recovery and Resilience in the Era of Covid-19

In normal days, it is easy to ignore the complicated supply chains that bring food to our tables, how our public health systems function and the plans and preparations for emergency management. On July 23rd, you can participate in a discussion with experts in the field and people on the frontline of agriculture, public health, supply chains and, clean energy, and emergency management. They’ll give their views and outlooks but just as important you’ll have the chance to provide your perspective, concerns and questions to create a framework for solving these complicated challenges. Keynote Speaker Michael Zimmerman Partner with the global strategic management consulting firm A.T. Kearney and lead author of the 30th Annual State of Logistics Report Featured Speaker: Amazon The keynote speaker will be followed by a presentation on disaster response from featured speaker Bettina Stix, Sr. Manager, Community Engagement, Amazon. 10/15/19 – Securing the Medical Supply Chain

The purpose of the Forum was to provides broad overview of the medical supply chain, discusses vulnerabilities and risks associated with security, transportation, availability of raw materials and challenges experienced by suppliers, distributors, and receivers. Discuss impacts of supply and demand expectations on the availability of medical supplies, and equipment during a significant event (natural and intentional). While also talking about how operational, communications, and planning requirements can be impacted during a disaster and hinder the support of critical healthcare functions during an emergency. Identify best practices and applications that would be required by the industry and program faculty to address the knowledge, skills, and abilities students will need in order to gain employment. Featured Speakers: The keynote speaker will be followed by presentations on challenges encountered and solutions deployed from: Barbara Ivanov, Director of Urban Freight Lab & Loren Vanden Berghe, Director of Transportation for Nordstrom. 3/15/18 – Brexit: A compelling discussion led by Seamus Woulfe, Attorney General of Ireland

Join us for a discussion on how Ireland and other EU countries plan to address the Brexit financial threat, impacts on trade, import taxes, or tariffs, employment and the potential return of the border. This discussion will be held at K&L Gates LLP, 925 4th Ave. Suite 2900, Seattle, WA 98104.

Our featured speaker is Seamus Wolfe, Attorney General of Ireland. The Attorney General, Seamus Woulfe SC was appointed in June of 2017. He is the legal adviser to the Government and is therefore the chief law officer of the State. The Attorney General is responsible for vindicating the rights of the Irish citizens, maintaining the highest standards of the legal profession and is the point of contact between the judiciary and other branches of government. His role is especially demanding in an era where Brexit is likely to produce complex legal concerns.

11/1/17 – Women in Leadership Forum

Hosted by the Center of Excellence for Homeland Security & Emergency Management, this year’s forum will focus on Women in Technology and will coincide with October’s Cyber-Security month. Technology is constantly changing and more women are entering the field. The forum will also debut the Center of Excellence for HSEM’s online mentoring program called Leadership Circles (LC). LCs will provide a space for women looking for mentors. LCs will offer secure conversations for mentors and mentees, real-time chat, and stand-alone-modules for online mentoring. More info to come.

Learn more about exporting! The Washington Export Outreach Team, the Center of Excellence for Global Trade & Supply Chain Management invite you to a workshop on how to go international. The workshop will be held at the Port of Everett – Blue Heron Room, 1205 Craftsman Way #200, Everett, WA 98201. One-on-ones with export expert are available from 2 PM – 4 PM.
